About

AAUW, founded in 1881, is a powerful and influential community of 100,000 members in 50 states and 1,000 branches. Membership is open to all graduates who hold the associates or higher degree from a regionally accredited college or university. In principle and practice, AAUW values and seeks a diverse membership. There shall be no barriers to full participation in this organization on the basis of gender, race, creed, age, sexual orientation, national origin, or disability.

The Branch was chartered in 1962 as the Warner Robins Branch. Eleanor Granum was our founding president and remained active until her death on April 27, 2019. The name was changed in 2010 to reflect the members locations in both Houston and Peach counties. Members live and work in Fort Valley and Byron in Peach County; Centerville, Perry and Warner Robins in Houston County.

The organization includes both a section 501(c)(3) public charity, the primary membership organization, and the AAUW Action Fund, a smaller section 501(c)(4) social welfare organization that may engage in limited activities related to member activism and voter education.

AAUW’s Legal Advocacy Fund provides funding and a support system for women seeking judicial redress for sex discrimination.
