"Thomas" by Margaret Mathews

Margaret Mathews, artist and long-time Houston Peach branch member, received word Tuesday that her entry, “Thomas” was one of the six winners for the AAUW Art Contest. This is the third win for Mathews with the “Red Door” in 2009 and the “Red Bicycle” in 2010.

Six images were selected to appear on note cards to be mailed to tens-of-thousands of AAUW members across the country this spring. Three images that received the most votes at the end of the voting period were selected and three were selected by past winning artists who will served as judges.

This is the fourth year in a row that branch artists were selected. Jane Winston, a winner last year, was a judge.
