RIF: Reading Is Fundamental, Inc. is the nation’s oldest and largest non-profit children’s literacy organization. Its purpose is to help young people discover the joy and acquire the habit of reading.
GRITS: Girls Read It Together in School, was born out of a need for a new Equity Project. In 2005, Equity Chair, Jane Winston, had the idea for all 5th grade girls in Houston County to read the same novel at the same time with AAUW members leading the groups at the individual elementary schools.
Awards: Every year AAUW requests nominations for our Eleanor Granum award to honor a woman or man who has shared time, energy, and knowledge through volunteer service to others in Middle Georgia area (Houston and Peach counties).
